Hi there friends. Firstly I wanted to apologize for being absent on my blog and social media lately. I really do have a legitimate excuse and it also makes for quite an interesting and funny story. So here goes... I found myself scrolling online a while back and came across an ad for a super great deal for travel to New Zealand. I had always thought that a trip to New Zealand was way too expensive for me but there was this rocking great price and it turned out to be not a scam. So I got approval from work and booked a 2 week trip to New Zealand. Everyone talks about how long and uncomfortable the flight is but I have to say that it was not all that bad. I think I was preparing myself for an ordeal but I got cozy, watched a few movies, slept a bit, ate a bit and before you know it I had touched down in beautiful Auckland, New Zealand. The trip was with a tour group for like-minded, fun loving, young people so I was met at the airport along with 5 others and we headed to the hotel. At first I was a tad confused seeing the driver of the shuttle on the right hand side of the car and watching cars on what I feel is the opposite side of the road, but it didn't take long to get used to my surroundings. The first 3 days of the trip were amazing. We went hiking, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding ( something I had always wanted to try). My group was super fun and a couple of the guys were very cute and pretty flirty. This was going to be an exciting adventure in more ways than one! Things definitely changed on day 4. We were packing up our stuff to head to a beach for some swimming and a bbq when I stepped onto the bus and missed my footing. I fell on the ground and thought oh no this isn't good but I thought I could just shake it off. One of my new friends, a guide on the tour came to see if I was ok and I felt the tears well up when I said " I don't think so". He carried me to his car and took me to the emergency room where I was diagnosed with a fracture. Oh man - this was not the plan. The doctor set me up with a cast and a bunch of pain pills and told me to stay off it for 4 to 6 weeks. Well there was no sense in getting upset and as my Mom used to say " when your life gives you lemons, make lemonade". My friend Jim drove me back to my hotel, and he was so sweet. He took care of me for the rest of the trip while I was laid-up and made my vacation a pretty fantastic one. Who needs paragliding when you can make out with a serious hunk instead. I'm back home now - with my foot still in a cast for a few more weeks, but at least I have stories :) Talk again soon, Scarlett
