Man, That Sucks
I think you guys know that I’m a runner. I’m not really into racing but going for a fast jog on a local trail really helps me stay fit and firm. In a typical week I run 3 or 4 times for about 40 minutes - about 6 K. In the last few months, I’ve been running with a friend that I met at a local running group. My friend, Jess and I are on similar schedules and our running abilities are pretty similar so having a running buddy has been working out really well. We meet half way between her house and mine and off we go - chatting along the way. It's pretty great. But I texted Jess on Saturday afternoon to confirm our usual Sunday run and she gave me the bad news. She said that because of the coronavirus she didn’t feel safe running with me anymore. She explained that she shares a house with her elderly parents and since I am still working outside of the house some days, that she is worried about getting her parents sick. I had never thought that I might be one of those guys that you need to avoid for fear of getting the virus so when Jess told me that she was concerned, I was really surprised and more than a little sad. Of course it’s not her fault and since I have to work at the office sometimes, it’s really nobody’s fault. But it kinda feels like that relationship was the first thing to really get broken because of COVID. I know we can start running again someday. Let’s all hope that damn vaccine gets distributed soon so we can have some fun again. But for now... Catch me on the trail!
